INVISIBLE-image labels

Opthentic's invisible-image label appears to an unaided eye as a transparent tinted blank film. However, placing a validator (a sheet polarizer) over the label reveals hidden images: graphics, text, barcode or photographs. A 90° rotation of the validator reverses the image-background contrast. We offer four types of hidden image labels:

  • Single-color Reflective Invisible-Image Labels
  • Black-and-White Reflective Invisible-Image Labels
  • See-through Invisible-Image for ID Cards (transparent windows)
  • Invisible Reflective Barcode Labels

single-color reflective INVISIBLE-image labels

All Single Color Invisible-Image Labels provide three optical security levels:

  1. OVD effect that can be detected by an unaided eye.
  2. Invisible marks or information that become visible when the labels are viewed through a validator (polarizer)
  3. Forensic level of distinct spectroscopic features that are detectable only with specialized instrumentation.

Left - An ordinary visible ID photo is observed with an unaided eye. A top layer with an invisible image is not noticeable.

Right - Placing a validator over the photo reveals a hidden photo which, if it matches the visible photo, can authenticate the card.

Top - A blank reddish transparent label is observed by an unaided eye.

Bottom - Placing and rotating a validator over the blank label, reveals hidden images.

Top - The unaided eye view of a square transparent blank label placed over a corner of a printed page.

Bottom - Placing and rotating a validator over the blank reveals hidden spiral images.

BLACK & WHITE reflective INVISIBLE-IMAGE LABELS

Our B&W reflective invisible-image labels provide a covert security solution in applications that use reflective metallic foils as substrates.

To an unaided eye the label appears as a metallic blank.

Placing a validator (polarizer) over the blank label reveals hidden B&W graphics, text and a photo.

SEE-THROUGH INVISIBLE-IMAGEs for ID cards (transparent windows)

Opthentic's see-through invisible-image labels are particularly useful for ID cards or financial documents featuring a transparent window. No special tools are required for visual detection. All you need is a metallic or any silvery, reflecting surface like the back of a computer or a smartphone! Of course, detection with a polarizer works as well.

Detection without a polarizer (click HERE for a video demo). Placing the business card face down on any reflective metallic surface, reveals a hidden image.

INVISIBLE-reflective barcode labels

Our Invisible Barcode labels consist of a transparent substrates coated with a single polymer layer which embeds the barcode information. To the unaided eye the label appears as a transparent tinted blank. To read the barcode information, use a polarized laser scanner (an ordinary scanner with a sheet polarizer attached in front). The barcode information will be read and appear on your computer screen. The barcode can be read even when the label is laminated over printed materials. Invisible barcodes can also be read by Smartphones (fitted with a polarizer over the camera) using standard barcode applications.

Top - A Invisible Barcode Label as seen by an unaided observer.

Bottom - Placing a polarizer on the label or in front of the scanner reveals a hidden barcode which can easily be scanned.

Top - Since the label is transparent, it can be laminated over printed information without being obtrusive.

Bottom - A hidden barcode on a magazine cover is revealed to a scanner or to a smartphone reader by placing a polarizer in front.

Left - A green invisible QR-code blank as seen by an unaided eye.

Right - A hidden QR-code is revealed to a scanner or a smartphone by a polarizer placed in front of the reading device.
