An invisible barcode label is laminated on top of a magazine cover. The underlying printed material can be read through the label. The barcode is visible to the naked eye by placing a polarizer on top. However, this blocks acquisition of the data.
When the polarizer is removed, the barcode becomes invisible to the observer/camera. The scanner, however, can read the barcode. The video demonstrates 12 acquisitions of the barcode data as signaled each time by a 'beep' and a green LED turning ON.
